We preserve and protect the land and its wildlife. We do not employ intensive farming methods. We encourage wildlife biodiversity with a rich tapestry of habitats, maintaining areas of long grass and rough growth, and a variety of plant life.
A substantial part of our annual resources is spent on maintenance of a network of cut grass pathways which criss-cross the meadows. These encourage people of all ages and levels of fitness to walk and enjoy the wildlife.
We carry out regular planting, mainly of native species. Since 2004 we have planted 900 trees and more than 1,400 hedging plants.
The village of Hollingbourne lies next to the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Land that we can afford to buy is protected from development. Hollingbourne, which includes Junction 8 on the M20, is continually threatened with inappropriate developments which would be seriously detrimental to the AONB and to its setting.
